Dr. Jim McCann, “The Revivalist,” brings a bold call to awaken the sleeping Church and restore the power of the Holy Spirit to pulpits and people across America.
Dr. Jim McCann, “The Revivalist,” brings a bold call to awaken the sleeping Church and restore the power of the Holy Spirit to pulpits and people across America.

For over 40 years, Dr. Jim McCann has devoted his life to ministry, leading people into deeper encounters with the Holy Spirit. But in 2020, something shifted. In a moment of deep prayer, McCann was grieved over what he saw as the decline of Spirit-led churches. He was lamenting to God about the state of the body of Christ when he heard these words: “My church is not dead. It’s just asleep. I have called and anointed you to go wake it up and to feed it.”

That encounter ignited a fresh fire in McCann’s ministry. He stepped away from pastoring to fully embrace the call of a revivalist—traveling to churches, hosting revival meetings, and reigniting a hunger for the move of God in a generation that, he warns, has become desensitized to the Holy Spirit.

Revival Starts with Hunger

McCann’s message is simple but urgent: If the Church wants to see revival, it must first want revival. He warns that many churches have traded deep, Spirit-led encounters for polished programs and palatable messages. The result? A generation that is spiritually malnourished. “Churches today don’t lay hands on the sick, they don’t teach on the gifts of the Spirit, and they don’t allow time for the presence of God to move,” he says. “Instead of Spirit-filled services, we have seeker-friendly ones. Instead of revival, we have entertainment.”

“If the Church wants to see revival, it must first want revival.”

McCann believes that this shift has left people “desensitized” to the Holy Spirit—comfortable in religious routine but distant from the power of God. His solution? Saturation.

Through what he calls “saturation meetings,” McCann creates environments where believers are immersed in extended worship, deep prayer, and the undiluted preaching of the Word. These meetings, held in local churches and civic centers, aren’t about schedules or formalities—they’re about giving God the time and space to move.

“God showed me that there is an Alabama outpouring coming—a double portion anointing.”

The Alabama Outpouring: A Vision for Revival

During prayer, McCann saw a vision of small fires igniting across Alabama, spreading revival from church to church, then across the nation. “God showed me that there is an Alabama outpouring coming—a double portion anointing,” he shares. The strategy is simple: host revival gatherings, empower believers to bring the fire back to their churches, and watch as revival spreads.

McCann stresses that revival isn’t an event—it’s a cultural shift within the body of Christ. “People need to be reintroduced to the presence of God,” he explains. “They need to be in an atmosphere where miracles happen, where they taste and see that the Lord is good.”

“Five minutes in the presence of God can do more than five years in therapy.”

Signs, Wonders, and the Power of God

For McCann, revival isn’t theory—it’s experience. He recalls a revival meeting in Mississippi where a woman in a wheelchair was healed. “I don’t even remember jumping off the platform—it was like stepping into a cloud. I grabbed her hand, and she just knew. She stood up, and we took off running around the church.” In another instance, a man with inoperable brain tumors was miraculously healed. His doctor, shocked by the scans, continued checking for tumors for three years, never finding them again.

McCann has witnessed deaf ears open, demons cast out, and lives transformed in an instant. But he emphasizes that these miracles aren’t exclusive to his ministry. “Five minutes in the presence of God can do more than five years in therapy,” he declares. “The power of God is real, and people need to experience it firsthand.”

Bridging the Generational Gap

Revival, McCann believes, requires both the older and younger generations to come together. “God told me to pray that the joy of salvation would return to my generation,” he explains. “We were touched by the fire of God during the charismatic movement, and we need to pass that enthusiasm to the next generation.”

“We were touched by the fire of God during the charismatic movement, and we need to pass that enthusiasm to the next generation.”

But it’s not just about the older generation leading—it’s about the younger generation wanting to be discipled. “This is a selfish generation,” McCann warns. “They need prayer to break that spirit of self-focus. They are talented, but they need to use those talents for the Kingdom of God, not just for the world.”

To bridge this gap, McCann calls for spiritual mothers and fathers to rise up and mentor young believers. He also prays for the rise of new generals in the faith—leaders who will boldly guide this generation into the next move of God. “There is no army without generals,” he states. “The Church needs strong leaders to disciple and equip the next wave of revivalists.”

A Call to Action: Preparing for the Next Move of God

McCann insists that revival is not a passive hope—it’s a personal pursuit. Churches and individuals must prepare their hearts and environments for an outpouring. His practical steps for believers:

  • Pray for revival. Every move of God in history began with prayer.

  • Create an atmosphere for God’s presence. Worship should focus on Him, not on ourselves.

  • Preach the full gospel. The Holy Spirit, miracles, and deliverance must be part of the message.

  • Engage in personal discipleship. Seek out mentors and be willing to be discipled.

  • Step out in faith. Lay hands on the sick, pray for the lost, and expect God to move.

“We are stepping into the days of the ‘immediately,’” McCann says, referencing the biblical moments when God moved instantly. “When people come together in unity and hunger for revival, things won’t take years—they’ll happen immediately.”

As McCann continues traveling from church to church, carrying the fire of revival, his message remains the same: Wake up, Church. The time is now.
