Don't Miss This Moment: God’s Purpose for This Season of Your Life

Terri Savelle Foy

God wants to give you the direction you desperately desire. He wants to reveal the next steps for your life—even give you those God-inspired ideas that produce great wealth. But you have to get quiet to hear them.

Getting alone with God to hear direction is one of the great traits of elite performers.

Hi, I'm Terri Savelle Foy, your cheerleader of dreams. I want to help you understand God's purpose for this season of your life. It’s so important you don’t miss this moment. And never, ever give up on the dream in your heart—no matter what it looks like right now.

Your Dream Isn't Dying—It's Being Birthed

I once heard a story about a couple in California who went hiking and found wild mushrooms. They picked a bunch and invited friends over for a “mushroom party”—not that kind of party! They experimented with different dishes—mushroom omelets, dips, soups.

Later, the host noticed her fat, lazy cat staring at her in the kitchen. She fed the cat some mushrooms. A bit later, the cat was panting and foaming at the mouth. Panic set in. She called the vet, who told everyone to rush to the ER and get their stomachs pumped.

They came back home expecting to find the cat lifeless on the floor. Instead? She was lying there... with a litter of kittens. What they thought were death pains were actually birth pains. It may look like your dream is nearly dead, but in reality, you’re closer to giving birth to your dream than you’ve ever been before.

When you feel like giving up the most, it’s often a sign that your dream is just about to manifest. If your dream is bigger than you, that’s one sign it’s from God—because you can’t do it without Him.

If you’re discouraged, if you feel like giving up—don’t. It’s always too soon to quit.

When you feel like giving up the most, it’s often a sign that your dream is just about to manifest. If your dream is bigger than you, that’s one sign it’s from God—because you can’t do it without Him.

The Checklist That Changes Everything

Today, I want to give you a few steps to pursue your biggest dream this year—and a free resource I created: My 10-Step Dream Checklist. You can download it for free and use it year after year to keep you on track. Just go to Terri.com. My First 3 Steps to Prepare for Purpose

Each of the steps in the checklist begins with the letter H to help you remember. Here are the first three:

1. Hide

Would you like to hear God-inspired ideas? Know who to marry? Which job to take? How to increase your income or solve a problem?

You have to get alone with God. I wrote a book called The Alone Advantage because the average person does not spend intentional time alone. But the average successful person does.

Purpose is often found in privacy.

• Truett Cathy got the Chick-fil-A sandwich idea recovering alone in a hospital bed.

• Sylvester Stallone wrote Rocky in solitude.

• Einstein had a thinking chair.

• My dad taught me: take a journal and a pen into your quiet time with God.

Ideas come in isolation. Strength comes from solitude.

Jeremiah 30:2 says, “Write all the words I have spoken to you in a book.”

So take time to think: What do you really want this year? What’s bothering you? What do you need to stop—or start?

2. Highlight the Memorials

Gratitude is powerful. I always ask my team at the start of meetings, “What are you grateful for this week?” No matter how your year went, you have something to be grateful for.

Ask yourself: What were some of the highlights from the past year? Write them down. Use a journal or even your phone.

Gratitude welcomes the presence of God. And in His presence, there is fullness of joy.

When you magnify what God has already done, you attract more of His goodness.

Your mind is like a magnet: Be grateful—you’ll attract more to be grateful for.Complain—you’ll attract more to complain about.

3. Hone in on a Theme

I love a good theme—party themes, color themes, character themes. But I also love a theme for the year

Craig Groeschel says, “You won’t believe how different your life can be when you focus on one word that God can use to change your life.”

One year, my word was firm—and I applied it everywhere: fitness, finances, decision-making.

Another year, it was leap—and that’s when we bought our ministry headquarters.

So what’s your word?

Make a list:

  • Focus

  • Organize

  • Consistency

  • Intentional

  • Create

  • Action

  • Balance

Ask God what word will stretch you, mold you, shape you this year. Then write it down. Define it. Apply it. Put it where you’ll see it often—on your mirror, your phone, your car dashboard.

Your one word may seem small, but it can bring big results.

Don’t Lose Your Fire

I heard about a unique race in the Olympics: the torch race.

In this race, it’s not about who crosses the finish line first. The winner is the one who finishes with their torch still lit.

It’s not about how fast you go—it’s about whether your fire is still burning.

So keep your fire lit. Keep pressing toward the mark.

This season you’re in? It’s not wasted. It’s preparation for something bigger. Get the Full Checklist. I only had time to share three of the ten steps in this article, so be sure to get your free download of the full checklist at Terri.com.
